Atlanta Sports

Philips Arena is Atlanta's state-of-the-art sports and entertainment center. As well as hosting many popular musical performances, it is home to the NBA Atlanta Hawks.


The Atlanta Braves play games at Turner Field during the summer months of April though September. Turner Field, which is open year round, houses The Ivan Allen Jr. Braves Museum and Hall of Fame, as well as two new exhibits on Hank Aaron.


The Atlanta Falcons "rise up" at the Georgia Dome every fall, with pre-season games starting in August. The team is currently building a new downtown stadium to open in 2017.

Motor Sports
For the ultimate racing fan, The Atlanta Motor Speedway, located just outside Atlanta in Hampton, is an 87-acre racing complex that hosts NASCAR and other year-round events.



University of Georgia in Athens
Just 60 miles to the east is Athens, GA, home to the University of Georgia’s storied sports programs. In football, the ‘Dawgs play “between the hedges” of Sanford Stadium in Athens, one of the nation’s largest with a capacity of more than 90,000. The Georgia Gym Dogs gymnastics team is the most successful NCAA women’s gymnastics team of all time, with 10 national championships to their names.
